The guard's footsteps snap the prisoner from his sleep. He shakes his head free of his dreams of Stan Lee, of John Lennon, of Frenchmen and their Mise en scène...faint, now, and fading. The guard smirks through the bars. "Get yourself up. It's time."
Silent observers of every creed and station encircle the courtyard, bound together in reverence as the prisoner is escorted to the gallows frame. The executioner extends his hand. The prisoner takes it. His killer's face is waxy and grave.
Death's apparatus is wound about the prisoner's neck. He opens his mouth, then closes it. The final words are not his to speak. They are spoken.
"I'll see you in hell, Always See Everything Season One."
